Why Op-Yop Kits...
During the summer of 2010, the Op-Yop toy was re-introduced to the public and immediately won an Editors Choice Blue Ribbon Award at the Henry Ford Makers Faire and mention in Time Magazine. During the two day event people could choose between buying a ready-made Op-Yop or making one of their own. Overwhelmingly parents chose to share time with their children making a custom Op-Yop. Choosing from hundreds of combinations of colored discs, labels, rings, and string, every one made became unique to their maker. In addition, many people wanted a kit to take home for their friends or family. The rest of the summer, making your own Op-Yop and making kits remained popular, so we have added them to our online store.
Once assembled, wound up, the Op-Yop's smooth, whirring, winding, rewinding, and the unique clik-clak, op-yop sound instantly gives the maker a feeling of pride and accomplishment. Makers left our booth playing with the toy, and returned hours later still playing with the toy.
